There are rolling blackouts - "load shedding" - in South Africa for more than 100 days every year. The economy is a shambles. The vast promises of the Communists in the African National Congress have gone the way of every promise made by Communists. Crime is rampant, corruption is endemic, poverty and economic inequality are pervasive.
I remember the world looking the other way when white farmers I believe in Rhodesia were driven off their farms and/or killed. We have a friend who has a sister who married a South African and lives there. She tells him horror stories all the time. Apartheid was bad. Yet everything worked.
