Three Presidential Administrations now have declared the rare earth minerals supply chain to be of critical importance to US economic and national security. Given the trillions of dollars that politicians throw at, well, anything, you’d think the Federal Leviathan would have invested in mining companies controlled by Americans to, you know, deliver these critical minerals to the Department of Defense.
These minerals are so crucial to American security that the rare earths mine in Greenland known as Tanbreez is the reason President Donald Trump offered to buy Greenland from Denmark. I know this because I am the CEO of Tanbreez and five days before President Trump made the offer, my partner and I were in the White House, explaining the value of our mine to US national security. Despite the claims of a few ego-fueled (but non-mine-owning) American billionaires to the contrary, that meeting is why the President tried to buy Greenland. The picture below indicates what rare earth minerals are needed for.
Apparently, there are some other, more pressing priorities the American taxpayers insist on funding before much-needed military hardware, or magnets needs for the “energy transition,” or even before materials needed to build everyone’s personal Orwellian tracking device, er, smartphone.
Democrats appropriated $3 billion in the IRA to the Environmental Protection Agency for “environmental justice” grants, including $600 million for a “national grantmaker” program. In December the EPA awarded $50 million to Climate Justice Alliance, a network of nearly 90 affiliates, which plans to use the money to “resource community-based organizations (CBOs) to address past, current, and future environmental health and justice challenges.”
What else does Climate Justice Alliance do? Last November it helped to coordinate a “March on Washington,” where protesters waved the banner “Free Palestine Is a Climate Justice Issue.” Other slogans included “Our Government Funds Palestinian Genocide” and “Only Socialist Revolution Can Stop World War III.”1
The group’s website includes a “Free Palestine” section, with a video that uses “an anti-colonial framework to show how Climate Justice and the liberation of Palestine are connected.” It doesn’t disappoint. “Climate change did not begin with the burning of fossil fuels,” the narrator says. “It began with settler colonialism, imperialism and extractivism.” He asks viewers “to demand that we cut military funding to Israel and begin the process of demilitarization, so that we can all be free.”
Climate Justice Alliance’s website also offers a collection of anti-Israel art “that you are invited to use for Palestine solidarity protest actions.” One shows a bulldozer tearing down an Israeli fence. Another has a man waving a Palestinian flag standing atop a tank, with the quotation: “Where there is oppression, there will be resistance.” That line is attributed to Assata Shakur, who fled the U.S. to Cuba after being convicted of murdering a New Jersey state trooper in 1973. A third poster says: “Abolish Prisons Everywhere.”
Had the government invested $50 million into Tanbreez back when Trump thought it was so important he tried to buy Greenland so the US could just own the mine and the entire country it’s situated in, the mine would already be in production, reducing the price Americans pay for a range of high-tech goods. But no, $50 million was given to a pack of Lefty morons called “Climate Justice Alliance” to “resource community-based organizations (CBOs) to address past, current, and future environmental health and justice challenges.”
I read that phrase a dozen times and still have no idea what it means. Plus they hate Jews and are spending US tax dollars on posters fangirling the evil Palestinians who raped, murdered and took hostages on October 7, 2023.
The American people could have radically reduced our critical minerals dependence on Communist China for $50 million. Instead, you the taxpayer gave that money to a pack of Marxist Jew Haters to pester people about “environmental health and justice challenges,” which will likely mean rioting in our cities to get Democrats elected.
What a better use of scarce funds.
